On 15th June, 2017, the Professional English Faculty of the Foreign Trade University (FTU) held a seminar entitled “Research as Empowerment” at the Lien Viet International Conference Room – FTU.
From FTU, there were the participation of: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang – Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy – Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Nam – Head of the Scientific Management Department, Dr. Hoang Thi Hoa – Dean of the Professional English Faculty.
After the opening speech of Dr. Hoang Thi Hoa, there was the speech of the main speaker Dr. David Newman from RMIT University Vietnam with the topic “Developing a productive research practice, or how not to become like the Red Queen in Through the Looking Glass”.
Next, four speakers from FTU took turn to give their presentations. Firstly, Ms. Bui Thi Nhung presented the topic “Learner autonomy in EFL learning: from theory to practice”. Secondly, Ms. Phung Thi Duc presented the topic “Using portfolio in fostering learner autonomy in teaching grammar: An action research. Thirdly, the lecture MS. Tran Thi Trung Hieu presented the topic” Formative assessment on Moodle-based learning in Writing class “. And lastly, Master Nguyen Thuy Linh with the topic” Bringing real World experience to ESP classes”.
The group discussions took place with useful, exciting and many valuable exchanges. The seminar came to the end successfully and received many praises from the Board of Management of FTU.
