On November 24th 2017, the Faculty of Graduate Studies of Foreign Trade University (FTU) cooperated with the Faculty of Economics and International Business, Faculty of Law and Ho Chi Minh City Campus in Ho Chi Minh City held a scientific seminar entitled “Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS): International Experience”.
The Scientific Seminar was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang – Vice President of FTU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Van Nghia – Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of FTU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hong – Former Vice President of FTU together with representatives and students of the Faculty of Economics and International Business, Faculty of Law and Ho Chi Minh City Campus.

The speakers at the seminar was Professor Rodrigo Polanco – senior researcher of the World Trade Institute (WTI) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Van Nghia – Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of FTU.

The seminar began with concise presentations, new data and statistical analysis of the lawsuits in the world by Prof. Rodrigo Polanco. The analysis helped to open up ideas on the trend of disputes between investors and governments of the receiving countries in the future.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Van Nghia – Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of FTU gave a speech at the scientific seminar
Following the lecture on information about cases in the world, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Van Nghia – Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of FTU has shared the lawsuits between the Vietnamese Government and foreign investors as well as suggestions for Vietnam.
The seminar was continued with the discussion of Dr. Pham Thi Mai Khanh – a lecturer of FTU Ho Chi Minh City Campus and others teachers and students.
The scientific seminar ended successfully. It has offered students valuable lessons in dealing with, and settling disputes as well as improving their knowledge of law.
